The design and architecture of Greenschool is based on the organic form, and contemporary lines and sacred geometry while minimizing carbon emissions and impact on the environment. Having been designed and built by PT Bambu on the beautiful eight hectare land overlooking the Ayung River in Sibang Kaja, Bali, the school was under strict building policies and parameters to assure the end result was the most ecologically built school in the world. Although the majority of construction was from Petung and Tali bamboo, local alang-alang grass, traditional mud walls and mud brick, the main ingredients were integrity, authenticity and persistence on staying Green. There is always an easier way going then Eco. A carbon neutral project, if taking account the carbon credits of our own bamboo nursery and bamboo plantations, the Greenschool is the first school of its kind.
The Project a living example of sustainable development and Green building today with approximately 99% of the raw materials used in the construction of the school being completely natural and ecological. Maintaining all concrete below grade for foundations, steel bolts to a minimum, 100% eco-membranes in lieu of plastic, volcanic rock pathways, and mud floors, should be the benchmark for Green Architecture, Green interiors, and Green furniture design.
